Teachers and students, get your cameras ready for Canada’s Coolest School Trip!

The contest encourage Grade 8 and Secondary 2 students from all across Canada to recreate a significant Canadian moment related to a national park, national historic site or national marine conservation area on video and submit it to the My Parks Pass website.

Now, you don’t have to film in an actual Parks Canada site, it can be in your own backyard!

The prize for the winning class will be an all-expense paid, four day, activity-filled trip to Banff National Park, Canada’s first national park and UNESCO World Heritage Site, including round-trip airfare on Air Canada and excursion on the Columbia Icefield Glacier Adventure.

The official launch took place on November 10th at Toronto’s École secondaire Étienne-Brûle. After Minister Kent explained the contest is “to introduce new, engaging initiatives that will help build deeper connections between young Canadians and our natural and historic heritage,” said Minister Kent. ” both French and English students from the GTA were treated to drama workshops to help inspire them on what historical moment they should re-enact. Uh oh… seems there will be inner-school competition!
